madREAPER - Reaper PC/PDAThe blog of madREAPER of Reaper PC/PDA - Where all PDAs have a home 09 Januar Pharos announces a new AWS 3G PDA phoneHa..today The Pharos Traveler 137 was announced. It is a new Windows mobile 6.1 Professional touch screen PDA phone, that has some decent specs. But most notable is the fact that it is has AWS 1700MHz 3G (cough T-Mobile support cough), and it has AT&T 3G. But on the AT&T part, it is lacking the 850MHz 3G band, which AT&T is/will use in certain markets for their 3G network. So, based on that, I doubt this is for AT&T. http://ces.cnet.com/8301-19167_1-10131645-100.html http://news.prnewswire.com/DisplayReleaseContent.aspx?ACCT=104&STORY=/www/story/01-06-2009/0004949671&EDATE= [blockquote]Traveler 137 Specifications * Operating System: Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional * Hardware partner: Pharos works closely with Inventec * Processor: Qualcomm MSM 7201A 528MHz * Memory: 256MB DDR SDRAM, 512MB Flash ROM * Phone: unlocked GSM quad band 850/900/1800/1900 MHz, EDGE / GPRS, Tri-band 3G, 1700/1900/2100 MHz, UMTS 384Kb/s, HSDPA 7.2Mb/s, HSUPA 2Mb/s * Talk time: up to 4 hours talk time and 200 hours standby time * Display: 3.5" TFT LCD with touch panel, 480 x 800 Wide-VGA with 65,000 colors * Wireless: GPS aGPS compatible, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, Bluetooth(TM) v2.1 + EDR , FM tuner * Camera: 3 megapixel for picture or video, .3 megapixel on the front for video conference * Expansion: USB 2.0, micro SD slot support SDHC, stereo audio jack * Battery: 1380 mAh Li-Ion, rechargeable/replaceable * Size: 4.60in (L) x 2.40in (W) x 0.51in (H) * Weight: 4.9 ounces[/blockquote] Pic credit: Pharos To discuss this topic, speak your mind here on the Reaper PC/PDA Forum: Click here 01 Januar T-Mobile refreshes the T-Mobile Dash..Colorwise Remember the T-Mobile Dash that came out in 2006? Well
in May 2007, T-Mobile decided to upgrade it software-wise by upgrading
it from Windows Mobile 5, to Windows Mobile 6. Now, as today, T-Mobile
has again given it a minor upgrade. This time in terms of hardware.
Again I say minor upgrade. I emphisized minor upgrade because this
time, they changed the front of the phone from the silver and black, to
all black. Even the buttons have been changed in terms of color. It does look better in black. But, we take it they didn't even bump up the CPU, which stands as an OMAP 201MHz CPU. http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2009/01/01....k-ninjas-swoon/ http://www.t-mobile.com/shop/phones/Cell....bile-Dash-Black ![]() To discuss this topic, speak your mind here on the Reaper PC/PDA Forum: Click Here 03 Dezember Nokia N97 announced for early 2009 launch![]() Announced at Nokia World 2008 was the Nokia N97. The new high-end smartphone in Nokia's N-series line up. It features a Qwerty keyboard which is most commonly found in the Nokia E-series and a touch screen which is most commonly found in Nokia's N7xx/8xx series. Also interesting on this devices is the 3.5, 16:9 aspect ration wide-screed LCD at a resolution of 640 by 360. That makes the device excellent for watching movies while on the go. ![]() To hold the media content to be displayed on that wide-screen is 32GB of built in flash as well as an expansion slot (microSD) which supports up to 16GB more. No N-series phone would be complete without an above average cell phone camera to match, and the N97 comes well prepared. It has a 5 megapixel camera with a Carl Zeiss Tessar lens along with dual LED flash to round out its high end feature set. Like most Nokia smartphones the N97 will be running Symbian OS, S60 5th edition to be specific. ![]() According to the specifications released the device will support GSM 3G around the world except for on T-Mobile USA's network since the phone does now support the needed 1700MHz spectrum. GPRS and EDGE will be supported across every GSM network though due to the Quadband 850/900/1800/1900 spectrum support. The team over at “Linux on the iPhone” have gotten the linux 2.6 Kernel booting on the iPhone, iPhone 3G, and the 1st generation iPod Touch. Right now the project is in the very early stages of development and linux is not yet very useful on the iPhone. This proof however that things are going in the right direction for the project. What is working now: - Framebuffer driver - Serial driver - Serial over USB driver - Interrupts, MMU, clock, etc. What does not work: - Write support for the NAND - Wireless networking - Touchscreen - Sound - Accelerometer - Baseband support As this project progresses, more of the does not work items should be resolved. A video demonstration of linux on iphone can be viewed here: tp://www.vimeo.com/2373142 For further information and to download the files to try on your iphone/touch visit here: http://linuxoniphone.blogspot.com/2008/11/linux-on-iphone.html This post was done from a mobile device.
