Sony Ericsson shows off their 1st 3G 1700MHz phone

Thanks to terryjohnson16 for this one:
Sony Ericsson showed off what most gadget users wanted. Finally a device with Quad-band GSM/EDGE, as well as Quad-band UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA 3G. This device has some nice features, and the main reason why people in the United States might be interested is because the device supports T-Mobile USA's upcoming 3G 1700MHz band network.

The phone will run Windows Mobile. Sony Ericsson didn't mention if it will have Windows Mobile 6 Professional, or 6.1, or even Windows Mobile 7. The device is slated to be released sometime in the 2nd half of 2008. That means it can go on sale anytime after May. There will be two versions of this phone for 3G. One will have 850/1900/1700/2100MHz UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA, while the other will be for people who travel to areas that use 3G on the 900MHz band, so that their phone can support 900/1900/1700/2100MHz UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA 3G.

Blackberry 8820 coming to T-Mobile USA in March.

The Blackberry 8820 isn't anything special, but its the cousin to the currently being sold Blackberry 8800, which T-Mobile USA and AT&T currently sell. The only difference between the 8800 and the soon to come 8820, is that T-Mobile will sell it with Wifi, and UMA, and hopefully with GPS support.

The phone is a Quad-band GSM/EDGE phone with Wi-Fi, and UMA calling. The phone does have a GPS chip installed, but T-Mobile might disable it.
