    Access ALP on the way

Access (the company that makes the Netfront mobile web browser and the company that bought Palm OS) announced on October 23rd that their ALP (Access Linux Platform) is about ready to go for mobile devices.
There are two version of the OS ALP 3.0 and ALP mini. 3.0 is intended for high-end feature phones while ALPmini is designed for less powerful devices.
As can be told by the name ALP is a linux based Operating System yet Access claims that it is fully compatible with the older Palm OS applications.

ALPmini is ready to be used now by OEMs while ALP3.0 is soon to be released.
As can be seen in the screen shots the netfront web broswer is preinstalled which is no surprise considering that is a product of Access.
This probably means that the web browsing experience on an ALP powered phone should be better than average assuming the version in ALP is similar to that of the Windows Mobile version of their browser.
A dedicated site for ALP can be viewed here: Access Linux Platform WebSite
